Friends

Circle of Friends

Friends – Has been put together by Gillian Scully after her recent return to Dublin after a number of years away. ‘I wanted to see the new ‘Indiana Jones’ movie and none of my friends, as great as they are, were interested in going with me. I decided that it was time to increase my circle of friends but where to start?’

What do you do when you are 50, widowed, children flown the nest, self employed and absolutely not interested in joining a Golf or Bridge club because you would like some more fun in your life? Simple! You do some research and realise others are in similar circumstances and you join Gillian’s Friends.

Why – Circumstances change. People divorce, separate, become widowed or move and friendships can be affected due to these changes. As an example when widowed you may feel that it is time to have a few extra friends who are not part of a ‘couple’ or you have moved back to Ireland and realise that your friends are still your friends but you may not have as much in common as you once did.

Who – Join if you are: A Man or a Woman Working or Not Looking to increase your Circle of Friends Are Single, Separated, Married, Divorced, Widowed or Retired.

When – Weekly small events as an opportunity to meet a group of about 4 to 6 people for coffee or a drink leading to larger monthly events where you can and will have the opportunity to meet even more people.

Where – ‘My aim is to build smaller local groups building to larger events which may be further afield depending on the event.’

What – Smaller weekly events of about 4 to 6 people meeting for coffee or a drink and a chat. This way you will feel more relaxed when you attend the larger monthly events as the chances are you will have already connected with friends from smaller events.

Examples of larger events: Treasure Hunt - Irish Night - Sports Day - Crazy Golf – Dinner - Wine Tasting - Painting Class – Karaoke – And more…

Where possible there may be a slight twist to the event to have as much fun as possible as there is nothing better for breaking the ice or barriers than for everyone to feel a little silly. Imagine playing golf with a partner, you are blindfolded; they have to tell you how to hit the ball or imagine a painting class and the subject is naked! What if the Sports Day of your youth was replayed again how would you do in the egg and spoon race now…prizes of course.

How – Call me now, Gillian Scully, for a chat and to answer any questions you may have. We will arrange to meet so I can find out a little more about you; your likes and interests and I will guide you from there. There is a small joining fee of €75 to cover administration. Events are priced accordingly depending on the event at an additional cost.

Friends is not a dating agency! Friends is an opportunity to increase your circle of Friends and with meeting me you have already started. Remember Friendship is a term used to denote co-operation and supportive behaviour between two or more humans in other words to get something from a Friendship you do have to put something in.
